NuVasive Hosts Students as Part of Manufacturing Day 2018

Recently, NuVasive participated in Manufacturing Day®, a career awareness event held throughout North America on the first Friday of October. It is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Sites like our Ohio manufacturing facility hold open houses to spotlight the wide range of high-skill and high-pay career opportunities available in contemporary manufacturing facilities. We also highlight manufacturing’s vital role in national and regional economies. This year’s theme is “Open Doors, Open Minds – Inspire the next generation of manufacturers”.

More than 150 high school students from five area schools visited our self-manufacturing facility in West Carrollton, Ohio, including the CinDay Academy, Dayton Early College Academy, Dayton Stivers, the Global Impact STEM Academy and New Lebanon. In addition, U.S. Congressman Mike Turner and representatives from the Dayton Region Manufacturers Association stopped by for a tour.

Site leader, Dale Wolf, greeted the visitors and Manufacturing Engineering leader, Ruben Perez, provided a brief overview of NuVasive. The students then went on a facility tour led by our volunteer tour guides who represented the gamut of careers available at our facility, including engineering, programming, machining, human resources and IT. Students left with a NuVasive goody bag and a better understanding of the manufacturing world. This is yet another example of NuVasive demonstrating our commitment to manufacturing and supporting the local communities in which we do business.
