The Better Way Back® Ambassador, Bill Walton, visits Kentucky

We work with surgeons, hospitals, and centers all over the world that are devoted to spine health. Saint Joseph East, part of KentuckyOne Health, is helping educate the community on the prevention and treatment of back, leg, and neck pain. They hosted a free seminar on Wednesday, September 20, at Saint Joseph East in the Community Room, located on the first floor of the hospital.

Bill Walton, The Better Way Back Ambassador, is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and one of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players of All Time. Bill discussed the importance of seeking treatment for back pain and his personal journey to a healthy back.

Bill is a former member of the Portland Trailblazers, San Diego Clippers, and Boston Celtics and retired from the NBA in 1990 after suffering years of back pain injuries, one of which intervened in his attempt at a comeback in 1990. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993.

During the seminar, James Rice, M.D., Kentucky Spinal Associates, discussed our eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion (XLIF®), the innovative NuVasive procedure offered at Saint Joseph Hospital to treat chronic back and leg pain. Saint Joseph Hospital is the first hospital in central Kentucky to offer XLIF.
